 Die Aa-Kerk-Aufnahme mit Vogel (mit Bach, Reincken, Scheidt, Scheidemann) gehört zu den allerbesten in meinem Regal (sie ist mittlerweile "legendär", wie mir Hans Brink neulich mal bestätigte), nach meinem Eindruck hat keiner bisher die Akustik der Aa-Kerk so überzeugend eingefangen wie Sie auf dieser CD.

van Scheidt zijn zeker nooit mooier gespeeld en vastgelegd.

De registraties die Harald Vogel hanteert zijn een vondst te noemen

en blinken uit in originaliteit.

All components make this the ultimate organ CD, with its 56-page booklet that includes detailed information on registrations, the organ, Weckman, and his music. Organist of the Jacobi Church in Hamburg, Matthias Weckman was a student of Heinrich Schütz and Jacob Praetorius II. He combined elements from a wide variety of musical languages to create a clear and complex style all his own. Hans Davidsson is the world‚s leading Weckman scholar and this recording is the first to use Weckman‚s original registrations.

This three-CD recording was made with the new ULSI technique developed by recording engineer Erik Sikkema. ULSI improves natural sound perception, especially in the bass, and clarifies the position of the organ and its divisions within the room. Combined with 24-bit technology, ULSI offers a new level of recording fidelilty.

The Verschueren Organ at Artisten, Göteborg

...Best-known for his interpretations of early 17th-century composers, Prof. Davidsson proves that he’s equally adept in the more standard repertoire. The finger-busting Widor showpieces not only demonstrate Davidsson’s skill but also the sonorous French reed stops. In the concluding pieces by Duruflé and his pupil Jehan Alain, Davidsson gives us a really poignant expression of Gregorian-tinged fervor. I have never heard a more compelling rendition. Erik Sikkema’s superb recording rounds out a top production, ably assisted by Anna Frisk of GoART. Congratulations to all!...
